Final hearing prep included relatives.
Mara testified Edwin had used “beggar” language for years.

When her father requested trust support after surgery:
“Mercers don’t beg.”
When a cousin asked education assistance:
“If you want Grandma’s money, show me your budget.”
Budget review can be appropriate.

“If you cross Edwin, Thanksgiving becomes complicated.”

Then I realized final hearing was not simply about money.
Removing him as adviser would change family hierarchy.
Some relatives feared freedom.

Then one cousin supported Edwin.

I laughed.
“What?”

Every purchase became evidence I did not deserve support.
This was why private trust matters should never have become family gossip.
