The executive suite at Marino Logistics was suffocatingly quiet when the clock struck 9:00 a.m. the following morning.
Bianca sat at the head of the mahogany table, wearing a designer dress, her diamond earrings catching the light.
Her father stood beside her, reviewing a set of guardianship transfer documents with a confident, arrogant smile.
"The alliance terms are ready, Nick," Bianca announced smoothly, sliding a gold fountain pen across the glass.

"The alliance is permanently dissolved, Bianca," my voice boomed through the room as the double doors swung open.
I walked into the boardroom wearing my simple caregiver uniform, followed closely by Nick and three federal auditors.
Naomi Pierce, our senior financial attorney, placed a black leather portfolio directly over their legal contracts.
The grand digital monitors on the wall lit up instantly, displaying a live broadcast of their hidden tracking logs.
"You didn't just threaten my son to keep this asset extraction quiet, Bianca," I said, looking her in the eyes.
"You used an unauthorized corporate card advance to cover your family's luxury real estate defaults in Boston."
