Chapter 10 - A Future Restored

Two years later, the soft sounds of baby giggles echoed through our sunny living room.
Our daughter, Clara, sat on a soft woven rug, reaching her chubby little hands toward a wooden toy block while Gwen sat beside her, laughing happily.
I walked into the room carrying two cups of tea, setting them down on the coffee table before sitting beside my wife and daughter. I looked at the two of them, feeling a deep, overwhelming sense of gratitude that no combat medal or military rank could ever match.
We had survived the wilderness of betrayal. The people who tried to destroy our lives out of greed were serving their sentences, living with the empty consequences of their own choices. But here, in this quiet haven built on truth, loyalty, and unconditional love, we had found something that no amount of money could ever buy.
Gwen leaned her head gently against my shoulder, her hand resting over mine as our daughter stacked another block.
