Chapter 16
The autumn brought strong fierce storms,
the wind howling through old trees,
the waves crashing violently against pier.
The family stayed safe inside house,
the sturdy walls protecting them well,
from the fury of wild nature.

Arthur sat by the warm fire,
his breathing heavy and very shallow,
his eyes fixed on the flames.
He knew his time was near,
his old body ready for rest,
after a long meaningful life journey.
He called Quincy to his side,
holding his hand with failing strength,
his voice a soft low whisper.
"You are a true man now,"
Arthur said looking into his eyes,
"proud of the person you became."
"Take care of your wonderful mother,"
he breathed closing his eyes slowly,
"and keep the workshop fires burning."
"I am ready to sail away,"
he smiled a peaceful quiet smile,
"into the grand eternal sunset today."
Quincy nodded his head with tears,
pressing the old man's hand tight,
promising to honor his grand legacy.
That very night Arthur passed away,
peacefully in his sleep at home,
surrounded by the family he loved.
The town mourned his passing deeply,
for he was a beloved figure,
a man of true quiet honor.
They held a beautiful memorial service,
by the edge of the sea,
the fishermen gathered in their coats.
Violet played her violin for him,
a deep and moving beautiful lament,
that carried across the gray water.
The music was full of sorrow,
but also full of deep gratitude,
for the man who saved them.
They scattered his ashes into ocean,
watching them float away on waves,
returning to the sea he loved.
Martha stood tall and very brave,
supported by Eleanor and the children,
knowing her husband was at peace.
The workshop remained open and busy,
Quincy taking full charge of business,
honoring Arthur with every restored boat.
He painted a giant beautiful mural,
on the side of workshop barn,
featuring Arthur standing at the helm.
The old man looked out sea,
a permanent guardian of the coast,
watching over the family he protected.
The loss was heavy and sad,
but they did not fall apart,
because their foundation was very strong.
They carried his love in hearts,
using it to fuel their work,
and their commitment to each other.
The house felt a little emptier,
May you like
but the light remained bright inside,
a testament to Arthur's enduring legacy.
