Part 32

"The terms are absolute surrender," I said, my voice echoing through the secure line.

"You will liquidate your hedge fund immediately and transfer all remaining assets into the Vale Foundation."

"You will sign a permanent non-disclosure and non-compete agreement, and you will leave the financial sector forever."

"If you ever so much as look in the direction of my company or my family again, I will release this data and ensure you spend the rest of your days in a cage next to your brother."

Julian stared at me through the screen, his face completely devoid of expression. He was a mathematician; he knew the probabilities, and he knew his chances of survival were zero.

"Agreed," he whispered, his head bowing slightly. "The transfer will be initiated within the hour."

I cut the feed, the screen returning to the peaceful logo of Vale International Holdings.

The final threat from the Vance bloodline had been neutralized, not with a physical battle on a stormy sea, but with a clinical, flawless strike in the digital ether.

I turned around to find Marcus watching me, an expression of profound awe on his face.

"It's over," he said softly. "The entire network, the past, the rivals... there is no anyone left to challenge you, Victoria."

I walked over to the large glass window, looking out over the immense expanse of New York City.

The sun had fully set now, and millions of lights were flickering to life across the metropolis, a beautiful, sprawling sea of electricity.

Behind me, I could hear the soft, rhythmic breathing of my twins, who had fallen asleep in their cradle in the adjoining room.

I had been broken, betrayed, and discarded into the freezing cold by those who were supposed to love me.

They thought they could take everything and leave me with nothing but the winter wind.

But they failed to realize that the cold doesn't destroy everything it touches.

Sometimes, it hardens you into something unbreakable.

Something eternal.

I smiled, looking at my reflection in the dark glass.

I had survived the storm.

May you like

I had protected my children.

And now, the world belonged to us.
