Chapter 10 - THE NEW HORIZON

Years passed.

The scar on Evelyn's hand faded until it was barely visible.

She lived a quiet,

meaningful life.

She was involved in charities that helped women escape domestic abuse.

She mentored young entrepreneurs,

teaching them that integrity was the only real currency.

She found love again,

a kind,

gentle man who saw her for who she really was.

He didn't want to own her.

He wanted to walk beside her.

He was her partner,

her friend,

her love.

They lived in a house by the ocean,

far from the noise of the city.

They spent their days walking on the beach,

listening to the sound of the waves.

They spent their evenings talking,

laughing,

and dreaming about the future.

Evelyn was happy.

She was fulfilled.

She was at peace.

She occasionally thought about Julian.

She wondered where he was,

what he was doing,

if he had learned anything from his mistakes.

But it didn't matter.

He was a part of her past,

a ghost that had been laid to rest.

She had forgiven him,

not for his sake,

but for her own.

She had let go of the anger,

the resentment,

the pain.

She had chosen peace over bitterness.

She had chosen joy over sorrow.

She had chosen life over death.

And in doing so,

she had found her true self.

She stood on the balcony,

looking out at the sea.

The sun was setting,

painting the sky in shades of gold and orange.

It was a beautiful day.

It was a beautiful life.

And she was thankful for every moment of it.

She was the woman she had always meant to be.

She was the woman she was born to be.

She was the woman who had conquered her own demons and found her own heaven.

And that,

May you like

in the end,

was all that mattered.
