Chapter 12

A year had passed since the night of the gala. The crystal chandelier in the grand banquet hall still hung in its place, but the room played host to a very different kind of gathering tonight.
At the center of the long wooden dining table, a feast of roasted meats and fine dishes sat under the brilliant lights, but the atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and filled with genuine laughter. There were no fake smiles, no hidden daggers, and no secret plots.
Julian sat at the head of the table, wearing a dark blazer and an open-collared white shirt. To his right sat Arthur, and further down the table, among a group of hardworking managers, engineers, and service staff who had helped rebuild the company from the ground up, sat Leo, now a year older and wearing a sharp new tan button-down shirt that fit him perfectly.
Julian raised his glass of sparkling water, catching the eye of everyone around the table. The conversation hushed as the guests turned their attention toward him.
"A year ago tonight, I sat at this very table and almost made the biggest mistake of my life," Julian began, his voice steady and clear, carrying easily down the length of the polished wood. "I was surrounded by luxury, by status, and by people who cared more about image than honesty."
He looked down the table until his eyes locked onto Leo, who smiled back with quiet confidence.
"I learned that night that true strength doesn't come from a bank account or a title," Julian continued, raising his glass slightly. "It comes from ordinary people who have the courage to speak the truth when everyone else is too afraid to listen. To honesty, to family, and to the people who keep our world standing."

"To honesty," Arthur echoed, raising his glass.
Around the long table, glasses clinked together in a chorus of clear, ringing tones that echoed off the high ceiling. Leo beamed proudly, taking a sip of his apple cider while the warmth of genuine community filled the room.
