Chapter 20 - THE HORIZON UNBOUND

The private elevator doors opened directly into the penthouse office on the forty-fifth floor of Millennium Plaza in downtown Chicago.

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows offered a breathtaking,

panoramic view of the magnificent Chicago skyline stretching out toward Lake Michigan.

Sunlight poured through the pristine glass,

illuminating polished hardwood floors,

modern architectural models,

and sleek stainless steel fixtures.

My name plate sat proudly on the executive mahogany desk: *Harding Lead Architectural Partner.

*

I walked over to the expansive window,

resting my hands lightly against the cool glass.

Below me,

the city pulsed with vibrant energy,

motion,

and endless possibility.

My phone rested on the desk,

completely silent.

No late-night lies.

No secret bank transfers.

No manipulative betrayals waiting in the dark.

Just a blank canvas,

a pristine blueprint,

and a horizon entirely without limits.

I smiled,

taking a deep breath of clean,

untainted air.

They thought I was broken.

They thought I was nothing more than an obedient wallet waiting to be emptied.

Instead,

I had discovered the true strength of my own architecture.

You can burn down a house built on deceit.

But a woman who knows how to design skyscrapers can always build something infinitely greater from the ashes.

I turned away from the window,

sat down at my executive desk,

May you like

opened my blueprints,

and began to draw the future.
