Chapter 20 - QUEEN OF VALE HARBOR

Six months later, the grand lobby of the Vale Harbor Hotel shimmered under pristine crystal chandeliers as hundreds of Detroit’s most respected civic leaders, artists, and business innovators gathered for the inaugural Harrison Vale Foundation Gala.
I stood on the mezzanine overlooking the bustling, radiant crowd, dressed in an emerald silk evening gown that caught the warm ambient light with every subtle movement.
Julian Hart walked up the curved marble stairs, holding a silver tray with a glass of sparkling cider.
“The gala is a resounding success, Mrs. Morgan,” Julian reported with a proud smile. “Local business grants have already been distributed to over fifty independent enterprises across the city.”
“Thank you, Julian,” I said, taking the glass and touching it to his in a quiet toast.
“We couldn't have done it without your unwavering loyalty.”
“Your father taught me loyalty,” Julian replied softly. “And you taught this city how a true leader reigns.”
Across the lobby, through the magnificent arched glass doors, the Detroit skyline stretched out toward the horizon—resilient, vibrant, and alive.
Down below, guests laughed, music played, and the hotel pulsed with vibrant, unblemished energy.
No lies glowing on a phone screen.
No deceitful husbands whispering in penthouse suites.
No fragile empires built on quicksand.

I took a slow sip of the cider, smiled at the bustling room below, and stepped forward into the bright, unclouded future.
