Chapter 20 - The Dawn of Absolute Independence

I stood on the balcony of my condo,

watching the sunrise over Lake Michigan,

the water glowing with shades of gold and amber.

The city was waking up below me,

a bustling metropolis full of potential and new beginnings.

I held a warm cup of coffee in my hands,

feeling the gentle breeze blow through my hair.

My skin was clear,

my mind was at peace,

and my heart was entirely free.

Preston had thought he could break me with a single blow,

but he had only broken the chains that held me to his mediocrity.

I had learned that you can fake love,

you can fake tears,

but you can never fake who you become when you realize you have already won.

I took a slow sip of my coffee,

smiling at the bright future ahead,

May you like

ready for whatever the world had to offer,

entirely on my own terms.
