Chapter 11 - THE BANISHMENT FROM THE ANCESTRAL HALLS

The grand ballroom slowly began to empty,
the guests leaving with a sense of excitement and satisfaction that no other gala had ever provided.
They had witnessed history,
witnessed the fall of a tyrant and the rise of a proud family reclaiming its soul.
Margaret Shaw and Mr.
Vance walked over to me,
their faces tired but bright with the satisfaction of a job well done.
"Evelyn,
the police have been notified of the unauthorized removal of the jewelry,"
Margaret said,
pointing to the emeralds in Sophie's hands.
"They will be waiting for Grant and Celeste at their penthouse to conduct a search,"
she added,
her voice cool and professional.
"And the corporate lawyers are already drafting the official termination papers,"
Mr.
Vance added,
his eyes shining behind his glasses.
"By tomorrow afternoon,
Grant will have no access to any Beaumont assets,
personal or professional."
"Thank you,
both of you,"
I said sincerely,
shaking their hands with deep gratitude.
"I couldn't have done this without your help,
and your dedication to my mother's memory."
"Your mother would be incredibly proud of you tonight,
Evelyn,"
Margaret said softly,
her hand resting on my shoulder.
"She always knew you had the strength to protect this family,
even when things seemed dark."
They said their goodbyes and left the ballroom,
leaving me alone with my children under the fading light of the chandeliers.
The staff began to quietly clean up the empty glasses and plates,
their movements soft and respectful of our privacy.
I looked at Sophie and Noah,
who were sitting on the plush velvet sofa,
looking tired but peaceful.
"Are you two okay?"
I asked,
walking over to sit beside them,
wrapping my arms around their shoulders.
"I'm okay,
Mom,"
Sophie said softly,
resting her head against my chest,
her grandmother's emeralds safe in her lap.
"I was scared at first,
but when you stood up to him,
I wasn't afraid anymore."
"Me neither,"
Noah agreed,
his hand resting on my arm,
his eyes shining with love and respect.
"We are going to be okay,
aren't we?"
he asked,
searching my face for reassurance.
"Yes,
my loves,"
I whispered,
kissing the top of their heads,
feeling a deep,
unshakable peace in my heart.
"We are going to be more than okay.
May you like
We are going to build a new life,
a life built on truth and clean soil."
