Part 10: The Proxy Realignment

The municipal office building downtown was completely quiet when the emergency board convened at 8:00 a.m.

Six major shareholders sat around the glass conference table, their faces pale under the neon lights.

They were looking at the thin yellow folders Marcus Bell had placed before their seats.

"The infrastructure deeds are fully validated under my name, gentlemen," I said, entering the room.

I wore a dark, immaculate blazer, my posture tall and my expression completely unreadable.

"The compliance certificates you signed last winter contain an automatic forfeiture trigger for identity fraud."

One of the senior board members stood up, his hand shaking as he adjusted his glasses.

"Sarah, we had no knowledge of Brenda's offshore shell transactions," he stammered defensively.

"Your knowledge isn't the issue, Harold," I replied, sitting down at the head of the table.

"Your signatures are."

"You allowed the Voss holding group to use your personal routing numbers to mask the deficit."

Naomi Pierce, my senior financial analyst, stepped up to the main projection display on the wall.

She pressed a single button on her tablet, and the grand monitors flashed with red alert text.

"The state treasury has officially dissolved the family's voting proxies as of ten minutes ago," Naomi stated.

"The controlling interest in the terminal has officially reverted to Sarah's private estate."
