Chapter 15

The massive armored vehicle came to a sudden, violent stop,

and the heavy rear doors burst open with a loud metallic crash,

revealing six highly trained mercenaries dressed in full tactical combat gear.

I pushed Lily roughly behind a thick marble structural pillar,

and I immediately opened fire with my heavily customized pistol,

aiming precisely at the incredibly narrow gaps in their heavy armor.

Two of the mercenaries dropped heavily to the slick marble floor,

and the remaining four quickly scrambled for hard, defensive cover,

returning heavy automatic fire that completely shredded the beautiful lobby.

We are totally pinned down,

I yelled over the absolutely deafening roar of the intense gunfire,

and I quickly slammed a fresh, fully loaded magazine into my weapon.

I need to completely blind their advanced targeting optics,

Lily shouted back,

and she frantically pulled her modified digital tablet from her bag.

She connected the highly powerful device to a shattered wall terminal,

and she aggressively hacked directly into the building's central lighting mainframe,

initiating a massive and completely chaotic strobe effect throughout the lobby.

The incredibly bright lights flashed violently on and off,

and the intense, disorienting strobes completely blinded the mercenaries' night vision,

giving us a massive and absolutely crucial temporary tactical advantage.

Move to the secondary exit,

I commanded her forcefully,

and I laid down a heavy blanket of highly accurate suppressing fire.

We sprinted desperately across the completely ruined and smoking lobby,

and the bullets aggressively impacted the marble floor right behind us,

sending sharp chips of stone violently into the air.

We reached the heavy emergency fire exit in the back corridor,

and I forcefully kicked the heavy metal door completely open,

bursting out into the incredibly cold and heavily pouring rain.

We ran down the dark and completely flooded back alleyway,

and we finally reached my powerfully idling and fully armored truck,

jumping quickly inside and violently slamming the heavy doors shut.

I hit the accelerator and aggressively tore out of the alley,

and we sped recklessly through the incredibly crowded city streets,

desperately trying to completely lose the heavily armed pursuing forces.

They are actively tracking our vehicle's GPS signature,

Lily warned me,

and she aggressively typed on her glowing tablet to jam the incredibly strong signal.

The algorithm is incredibly fast and completely relentless,

she noted,

and it is actively predicting our most likely escape routes.

Then we will do something completely and utterly unpredictable,

I decided,

and I suddenly jerked the heavy steering wheel violently to the right.

We crashed directly through a chain-link fence into an active construction site,

and we drove aggressively over the deep mud and heavy building materials,

completely bypassing the heavily congested main city thoroughfares entirely.

We emerged on the other side of the massive, sprawling site,

and we successfully merged onto the incredibly fast interstate highway,

putting a massive amount of crucial distance between us and the city.

We cannot go back to the safe house on the coast,

I realized,

because the automated algorithm already knows exactly where we live.

We need to completely disappear off the global grid,

I told her,

and we need to aggressively hunt down the incredibly massive server farm,

that is actively running this highly dangerous assassination algorithm.

I can trace the incredibly heavy data packets they sent,

Lily volunteered,

and I can completely reverse-engineer their primary operational hub.

Do it quickly,

I urged her,

because they will absolutely not stop until we are completely dead.

The rain continued to aggressively pound the thick windshield,

May you like

and we drove deep into the incredibly dark and completely remote wilderness,

preparing to strike directly at the very mechanical heart of the beast.
