Part 7

The police officer quickly unlocked the handcuffs.

The metal clicked open, and Rosa's arms fell to her side.

She almost collapsed from the sheer stress, but Ethan reached out a hand and firmly caught her arm, supporting her weight.

"Ethan, what on earth are you doing?" Veronica demanded, her voice rising in panic.

"She is a thief! The physical evidence was right there in her cart!"

Ethan finally turned his head to look at Veronica.

The look in his eyes made her freeze and take a sudden step back.

It wasn't just anger in his eyes.

It was absolute, pure disgust.

"You think you are so smart, Veronica," Ethan said, his voice dripping with contempt.

He walked slowly over to his large wooden desk.

He reached up and pointed to a tiny, almost invisible black lens hidden inside a bookshelf.

It was disguised perfectly as a small digital clock.

"What is that?" Veronica asked, her voice suddenly trembling.

"It's a high-definition security camera," Ethan explained coldly.

"I installed it two months ago when we upgraded the entire penthouse security grid."

Veronica's face instantly drained of all color.

She became as pale as a ghost.

"Ethan, wait... let me explain..."

Ethan pulled out his phone. He opened the encrypted security app.

With a few swipes, he played the live recording from exactly twenty minutes ago.

He turned the bright screen directly toward the police officers.

On the screen, the video footage was crystal clear.

It showed Veronica walking into the empty study.

It showed Veronica opening her designer bag.

It showed Veronica carefully dropping the diamond necklace into Rosa's cleaning cart.

The police officers watched the video intently, then slowly turned around to look at Veronica.

"Miss," the lead officer said, stepping toward her with a stern expression.

"You just filed a completely false police report and framed an innocent person."

Veronica looked like she was about to faint right onto the floor.

The tables had turned completely.
