Part 8

"This is a mistake! A total misunderstanding!" Veronica screamed, backing away.
"Ethan, tell them to stop! I did this for us! This maid doesn't belong in our lives!"
Ethan didn't look at her or show a single shred of mercy.
"Officer," Ethan said clearly. "This woman broke into my home and attempted to frame my employee for a crime."
"I want her removed from my property immediately. And I will be pressing full legal charges."
"Ethan, no! You cannot do this to me! Think about our families! Think about the business merger!"
"The wedding is officially off," Ethan said, his words cutting through the air like a knife.
"The merger is completely dead."
"Get her out of my sight."
The police officers grabbed Veronica's arms firmly.
She began to fight them, screaming wildly, her perfect hair falling apart over her face.
"You'll regret this, Ethan Mercer! You're ruining everything over a pathetic maid!"
The heavy elevator doors closed, instantly cutting off her desperate screams.
A deep silence returned to the penthouse.
But it wasn't the suffocating, tense quiet from before.
It was a peaceful, clean silence.
Rosa was still shaking violently on the sofa, trying to process what had just happened.
Lily was holding onto Ethan’s jacket tightly, her small face buried deep into his chest.
Ethan held the little girl gently, rubbing her back to calm her down.
He walked over and looked down at Rosa.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, his voice full of genuine concern.
Rosa shook her head, tears of relief still flowing down her cheeks.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Mercer. I brought all this horrible trouble into your life."
May you like
"You didn't bring any trouble," Ethan said softly.
"She did. And she is gone forever."
