Chapter 11 - The Leaked Documents

The next blow came from within Gideon's own house.
An anonymous source leaked a series of financial documents to the Wall Street Journal.
The records detailed millions of dollars transferred from Knightley Media Group accounts to offshore trusts.
The beneficiary of those trusts was Felicity Morris,
and the purpose was listed as "consulting fees."
In reality,
it was the money used to purchase her multi-million-dollar brownstone in Boston and her private medical care.
The revelation sent shockwaves through the financial sector. It wasn't just a marital scandal anymore;
it was corporate embezzlement.
The federal authorities announced an initial inquiry into the company's financial practices.
Inside his London hotel room,
Gideon watched the news segment,
his face completely expressionless.
The anger had burned itself out,
replaced by a cold,
hollow numbness.
The door opened,
and Barrett walked in,
his eyes red-rimmed from stress.
"The board has officially suspended your corporate powers,
sir,"
Barrett said,
his voice barely a whisper.
"They have appointed an interim CEO.
You are barred from entering any company property."
Gideon nodded slowly,
the news barely registering.
He had climbed to the top of the world,
only to fall into a canyon of his own making.
"Where is Felicity?"
he asked,
his voice flat.
"She's still in Boston,
sir.
The press is surrounding her house.
She called earlier,
begging for security,
but the company legal team blocked the funds for her guards."
Gideon let out a dry,
rattling breath.
He had wanted a son so badly,
a legacy to outlive him.
Now,
that child was a symbol of his downfall,
trapped in a fortress of scandal.
He pulled out his phone,
staring at the contact information for Clara.
He had treated her like an afterthought,
a convenient piece of furniture in his grand design.
He had never imagined she possessed the strength to tear his world apart.
He stood up,
walking to the window,
looking out at the gray,
unforgiving London sky.
"Pack the bags,
Barrett,"
Gideon said quietly.
"Where are we going,
May you like
sir?"
"To court."
