Chapter 13 - Felicity's Move

While the legal battle raged in London,
the pressure in Boston became too much to bear.
Felicity sat in her dark living room,
the curtains drawn tight against the paparazzi outside.
The baby was crying in the next room,
a high-pitched,
exhausting sound that had been going on for hours.
She looked at her bank account balance on her phone,
seeing the frozen notice stamped across the numbers.
Gideon's corporate funds were gone,
and her own savings were dwindling rapidly.
She realized,
with a sudden,
terrifying clarity,
that she was being left behind.
Gideon was fighting for his life in England,
and his empire was collapsing.
If he lost everything,
what would happen to her and her son?
She stood up,
her expression hardening as she walked to her desk.
She opened a hidden drawer,
pulling out a small digital drive. It contained copies of every text message,
every email,
and every voice note Gideon had sent her over the last three years.
He had promised her the world,
promised to leave Clara,
and detailed exactly how he was hiding the money.
She picked up her phone,
dialing a number she had sworn never to call.
The office of Marcus Vance answered after two rings.
"I want to make a deal,"
Felicity said,
her voice trembling but determined.
"I have the evidence that will finish Gideon for good.
But I want a guaranteed trust for my son,
independent of his father's estate."
Across the ocean,
Marcus Vance listened to her proposal,
a cold smile spreading across his face.
"Send the files for verification,
Miss Morris,"
Marcus said smoothly.
"If they are authentic,
we can certainly discuss a protection clause for the child."
The final betrayal was coming,
not from his enemy,
May you like
but from the woman he risked everything to protect.
Gideon's fortress was crumbling from the inside.
