Part 26

The heavy fountain pen felt like a lead weight in Prince Henri’s trembling hand as he lowered it toward the final page of the asset-transfer agreement.

With a slow, agonizing deliberation, he scribbled his signature, each stroke of the pen effectively dismantling two hundred years of generational power.

He pushed the document away from him as if it were a poisonous snake, his head bowing, his face a hollow mask of total defeat.

"You are monsters," Henri whispered, his voice cracking with a bitter, impotent rage that could do nothing to alter his new reality.

"You have no respect for tradition, no respect for the delicate balance that keeps this world from tearing itself apart."

Alexander picked up the signed document, checking the signature with a cold, clinical precision before sliding it into his breast pocket.

"Tradition is just a word weak men use to protect their unearned privileges, Henri," Alexander said, his voice flat and unyielding.

"The balance of the world didn't change today; it simply returned to the hands of those who actually know how to wield power."

He turned on his heel, gesturing for me to follow, his long strides carrying him out of the ancient library without a single backward glance.

I paused for a brief moment at the door, looking back at the broken prince sitting alone in the shadows of his disappearing empire.

"Your asset managers will receive their exit protocols by noon, Henri," I noted softly, a faint, cold smile playing on my lips.

"Make sure your family is out of this chateau by sunset. The Bennett-Vanguard trust takes physical possession of the estate tomorrow morning."

I walked out into the grand gallery, my high heels clicking rhythmically against the marble floor, matching the steady, powerful stride of my husband.

The air outside had cleared, the morning sun finally breaking through the dense European fog, bathing the courtyard in a brilliant, golden light.

Our security detail closed ranks around us as we approached the lead Bentley, their expressions alert and disciplined.

"The European theater is completely secure," Alexander said as the vehicle pulled away from the chateau, heading back toward the airport.

"Sofia has already finalized the absorption of the Valois gold reserves into our primary vault structures in Zurich."

"Our total global market capitalization has just increased by fourteen percent in less than twenty-four hours."

I leaned back against the luxurious leather seat, letting out a soft sigh of exhaustion mixed with an intoxicating sense of total victory.

"It's a flawless execution, Alexander," I murmured, turning my head to look at him as he sat beside me, his gray eyes burning with that unyielding fire.

"But we can't afford to get complacent. The destruction of the House of Valois will send shockwaves through the global financial elite."

"They will realize that we aren't just protecting our borders anymore; we are actively expanding them to encompass everything."

Alexander reached out, his large hand gently cupping the side of my face, his fingers sliding into my hair with a sudden, fierce tenderness.

"Let them realize it," he whispered, his thumb tracing the sharp line of my jaw, his gaze locking onto my lips with a predatory heat.

"Let them watch from their high-rises and their palaces as we systematically rewrite the rules of global commerce."

"They thought they could separate us, Elena. They thought they could use our past against us to tear down what we built."

He leaned in, his lips brushing against mine in a deep, slow, and possessive kiss that tasted of victory, power, and absolute devotion.

"They don't realize that our love isn't a vulnerability," he murmured against my lips, his breath hot and intoxicating.

"It's the foundation of our empire. And an empire built on a fire like ours can never be burned down."

I deepened the kiss, wrapping my arms around his broad shoulders, feeling the absolute certainty of our shared destiny settling deep within my soul.

The world outside our tinted windows could scream, crumble, or try to fight, but it didn't matter—the kingdom was ours, and we would rule it together, forever.
