Part 36

Three days later, Sofia departed for Gibraltar aboard the private Vanguard luxury cruiser, leaving Alexander and me alone to manage the transition from our estate.

The integration of the Ironwood assets was proceeding flawlessly, moving with the terrifying efficiency of an army conquering a defenseless, broken territory.

With the corporate operations running smoothly under our trusted lieutenants, Alexander decided it was time for us to take a brief, well-deserved respite from the city.

He surprised me that evening by arranging a private helicopter to transport us to our secluded castle in the Scottish Highlands, away from the constant noise of London.

As the helicopter touched down on the green, misty cliffs overlooking the dark, majestic waters of the loch, I felt a deep sense of peace wash over me.

The castle was an ancient, stone fortress that had belonged to Alexander’s family for generations, fully modernized inside to serve as a luxurious, impenetrable sanctuary.

We walked along the rugged stone parapets as the sun began to set, casting a deep, fiery crimson glow across the wild, untamed beauty of the Scottish landscape.

The wind was strong, whipping my hair across my face, but Alexander was right there behind me, shielding my body from the cold air with his massive, powerful frame.

"I remember coming here when I was a boy," he said softly, his voice filled with a rare, reflective warmth as he looked out over the vast, shimmering waters below.

"I used to stand on these cliffs and dream of building an empire that would shake the world, a legacy that would never be forgotten by history."

I turned around in his arms, resting my hands against his collarbones, looking up into the face of the man who had turned those wild childhood dreams into absolute reality.

"You did it, Alexander," I murmured, my heart aching with a profound, beautiful love for him. "You built the empire, and you did it all on your own terms."

He smiled, a soft, incredibly tender expression that he only ever revealed to me, his thumbs gently caressing my cheekbones as he shook his head slowly.

"No, Elena," he corrected me, his voice dropping to a fierce, passionate whisper that vibrated with absolute sincerity. "I didn't build this empire alone."

"I built it for you, and I built it with you. Without you by my side, this entire kingdom would be nothing more than a cold, empty pile of meaningless stone."

He leaned down, his lips meeting mine in a slow, deep, and deeply emotional kiss that sealed his words into my soul, erasing every lingering doubt of our destiny.
