Chapter 7 - The Confrontation at the Mansion

I returned to the house in the late afternoon,

finding Vanessa sitting comfortably on the living room sofa.

She was sipping wine,

looking completely unbothered by the dramatic events of the previous day.

“Where have you been?”

she demanded arrogantly,

not even bothering to stand up to greet me.

“Your mother is still at the hospital,

and I expect you to hire a new housekeeper immediately.”

I did not say a word;

I simply walked over to the television and plugged in my laptop.

Vanessa watched me with a bored expression,

assuming I was going to show her some work documents.

The large screen flashed to life,

displaying the clear video of her and Bradley kissing on our sofa.

Her glass of expensive wine slipped from her fingers,

shattering loudly on the hardwood floor below.

The red wine pooled around her feet,

looking exactly like the blood she had drawn from Elena.

“Daniel,

I can completely explain that,”

she stammered,

her face turning a sickly shade of white.

I pressed play on the next video,

which showed her striking my mother with the wooden spoon.

“Do you want to explain this too?”

I asked,

my voice completely devoid of any human emotion.

She scrambled off the couch,

reaching for her phone to call Bradley for immediate legal help.

“Don’t bother,”

I said calmly,

crossing my arms as I watched her panic grow.

“Your credit cards are blocked,

your bank accounts are frozen,

and your lover is currently being arrested at his office.”

She stared at me in absolute horror,

realizing for the first time that she had no escape route.

The confident,

cruel woman had completely vanished,

replaced by a desperate thief caught in a trap.

“You can't do this to me!”

she screamed,

her voice echoing through the empty rooms of the house.

“I built this life with you,

Daniel,

you owe me everything!”

“You built a house of lies,”

I replied quietly,

May you like

“and today,

it completely burns down.”
