Chapter 8 - The Hidden Ledger Revealed

The chaos that erupted inside the boardroom was swift and decisive.

Arthur attempted to gather his papers,

but the officers acted quickly,

securing his arms behind his back and placing him in heavy iron handcuffs.

The board members watched in absolute shock as the former director was escorted past the glass walls toward the private executive elevators.

As Arthur was led past Daniel,

he stopped for a brief moment,

his eyes burning with intense malice.

“Your mother will go down with me,

Daniel,”

Arthur hissed through gritted teeth.

“She signed those transfer receipts fifteen years ago.”

“My mother will answer for her choices in court,”

Daniel replied coldly,

without a shred of hesitation.

“Just as you will answer for yours.”

The elevator doors closed,

whisking Arthur away toward the waiting police transport downstairs.

The board members stood in silence,

turning their attention back toward Daniel who remained standing at the end of the table.

The lead attorney cleared his throat,

gathering the valid state treasury documents into a neat pile.

“Mr. Mercer,”

the attorney said respectfully,

“with these documents verified,

your legal control of Mercer Enterprises is fully restored.”

“The board awaits your direction,”

the attorney added,

bowing his head slightly.

Daniel looked at the assembled executives,

feeling the immense weight of his family’s company returning to his hands.

“We will suspend all offshore operations immediately,”

Daniel commanded firmly.

“And we will initiate a full independent audit of every department dating back ten years.”

He turned toward Elena,

who was standing quietly near the doorway,

watching him with a quiet smile.

“And as my first executive order,”

Daniel continued,

his voice softening,

“this company will establish a charitable foundation in honor of Clara Mercer.”

“A foundation dedicated to supporting families and children facing domestic injustice,”

he stated clearly.

The board members nodded in unanimous agreement,

breaking into warm applause that filled the spacious room.

Elena felt a tear trickle down her cheek,

knowing that her late employer’s memory was finally honored with the dignity it deserved.
