Chapter 15 - The Black DoorThe map led beneath the estate.
They found the door after twenty minutes.
Black steel.
No handle.
No lock.
Only a handprint scanner.
Marcus pressed his palm against it.
The door opened.
Inside was a room filled with old monitors.
One screen activated.
Mia appeared.
She was crying.
Marcus stepped forward.
"Mia!"
She looked at the camera.
"Daddy?"
Marcus nearly broke.
"I'm coming."
Daniel appeared behind her.
Marcus's face hardened.
"Daniel!"
Daniel looked into the camera.
"I'm sorry."
"Where are they?"
"Safe."
"Why?"
Daniel's voice cracked.
"Because your father isn't the enemy."
Marcus froze.
Daniel continued.
"The Foundation has been taken over."
"By whom?"
Daniel looked behind him.
A woman stepped into view.
Marcus stared.
It was Elena.
But she was crying.
Daniel whispered:
"By the woman who killed Richard Blackwell."
Marcus felt his blood run cold.
"Richard is alive."
