Chapter 37 - The Engagement

|

The river house was quiet on a rainy Tuesday evening. I was reading a biography in the study when Noah walked in, looking unusually nervous.

He paced the length of the room twice before finally stopping in front of my desk.

"Dad," Noah began, running a hand nervously through his hair. "I need to ask you something."

I closed the book, instantly giving him my full attention. "What is it?"

Noah reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, velvet jewelry box. He opened it, revealing a stunning, understated diamond ring set in a band of twisted platinum.

"I'm going to ask Elara to marry me," Noah said, his voice trembling slightly with excitement and nerves.

I stood up slowly, a massive, uncontainable smile spreading across my face.

"Noah," I breathed, walking around the desk. "That is incredible news. The ring is beautiful."

"I designed the band myself," he admitted proudly, looking down at the ring. "But... I wanted to ask you first. Not for permission, but... for your blessing."

I reached out and grasped his shoulders firmly.

"You have always had my blessing, Noah. Elara is a wonderful woman. She challenges you, she supports you, and she loves you for exactly who you are."

Noah closed the box, a look of profound relief washing over his face.

"I want to build a life with her, Dad," Noah said, his eyes shining. "A real life. No secrets. No corporate politics. Just a home."

"Then you go build it," I told him, pulling him into a tight, celebratory hug. "You build the strongest foundation you can, and you never look back."

He hugged me back, the nervous energy replaced by pure, undeniable joy. The next chapter of his life was about to begin, and it was going to be magnificent.
