CHAPTER 15

Khloe's heart skipped a beat as she watched the headlights bounce along the snowy path,

realizing that the mountain fortress was no longer a secret.

She didn't panic,

remembering Marcus's training and her own resilience,

and immediately put down her teacup to spring into action.

She ran to the security panel near the door,

activating the chalet's defensive protocols,

which lowered heavy steel shutters over all the large windows.

She then woke her son gently,

wrapping him in a thick wool blanket,

and rushed toward the basement where a hidden escape tunnel had been excavated into the mountain rock.

Outside,

two black SUVs pulled up to the chalet,

their tires slipping slightly on the fresh snow before coming to a halt.

Men holding automatic weapons scrambled out,

but before they could even approach the front door,

the chalet's automated security systems engaged.

Flash-bang devices exploded along the perimeter,

blinding the attackers and creating a chaotic diversion that bought Khloe precious time.

She moved quickly through the dark basement,

guided only by the faint red emergency lights that illuminated the rocky walls of the tunnel.

The tunnel led to a hidden garage located half a mile down the mountain,

where a fully equipped snowmobile was kept fueled and ready for emergencies.

As she reached the end of the tunnel,

she could hear the distant sound of explosions from the chalet above,

proving that the mercenaries were destroying the property to find her.

She strapped her son securely to her chest inside her heavy winter coat,

ensuring he was warm and shielded from the wind.

She hopped onto the snowmobile,

inserted the key,

and hit the starter button,

the engine roaring to life with a loud,

reassuring buzz.

With a twist of her wrist,

she burst out of the hidden garage doors,

speeding out into the blinding white snowstorm,

navigating the dangerous mountain ridges with sheer adrenaline guiding her hands.

She was terrified,

May you like

but the fierce love for her child gave her the strength of a warrior,

refusing to let Julian Sterling win.
