CHAPTER 18
Marcus arrived in Zurich within hours,
his private jet landing amidst a torrential downpour that matched the dark,
turbulent storm raging inside his soul.
He was met on the tarmac by a convoy of armored vehicles filled with elite tactical responders he had hired from a premier European security firm.
They immediately tracked Khloe's emergency transponder,
which was emitting a faint but steady signal from a local police station in a remote mountain village.

"She made it,"
his team leader reported,
showing Marcus the live tracking map on a rugged tablet device.
The relief that washed over Marcus was so intense it nearly brought him to his knees,
but he forced himself to stay focused,
knowing the danger wasn't fully over.
"Get us there now,
and prepare a medical team just in case,"
Marcus commanded,
climbing into the lead vehicle as the convoy sped toward the mountains.
When they arrived at the village,
the local police station was surrounded by heavily armed officers,
who had taken Khloe and the baby into protective custody after her dramatic arrival.
Marcus burst through the doors,
his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Khloe,
who was sitting by a fireplace,
wrapped in a thick blanket,
cradling their son.
She looked up,
her face pale and exhausted,
but as her eyes met his,
a bright smile broke through her tears of relief.
He ran to her,
falling to his knees,
wrapping his arms around both of them,
weeping silently as he held his entire world safe in his embrace.
"I've got you,
I've got you,"
he whispered over and over again,
burying his face in her hair,
feeling the steady heartbeat of his son against his chest.
"He tried to kill us,
Marcus,
he won't stop,"
Khloe murmured,
her voice trembling as she looked at her husband with an unspoken plea for permanent resolution.
Marcus stood up,
his expression hardening into stone,
his eyes reflecting a cold,
lethal determination that signaled the end of mercy.
"He won't get another chance,"
Marcus promised,

turning to his team leader to coordinate the final,
unforgiving strike against Julian Sterling.
