Chapter 14

The grand butler opened,
the heavy oak doors,
leading her inside manor.
The interior was filled,
with expensive old paintings,
and gold-plated furniture decorations.
Blackwood sat by fire,
holding a crystal glass,
of amber-colored scotch whiskey.
He looked old and,
tired from the day,

of massive financial losses.
"Welcome Clara,"
he said with false,
politeness pointing to chair.
"You look just like,
your father did when,
he ruled the ports."
Clara remained standing tall,
refusing to sit down,
in his presence today.
"Do not speak of,
my father to me,"
she said coldly like,
ice cutting through wind.
"You betrayed his trust,
and now you try,
to steal my company."
Blackwood laughed softly but,
his hands were shaking,
as he held glass.
"We built this industry,
your father and us,
before you were born."
"You are a child,
playing with giant toys,
that you cannot control."
Clara stepped forward closely,
the firelight catching her,
sharp beautiful facial features.
"That child just took,

half your fortune today,
in five short hours."
The old man stopped,
his laughter dying instantly,
replaced by sudden rage.
"You think you won,
because of some stocks?"
he growled low down.
"I can destroy your,
ships with one phone,
call to the ports."
"Go ahead and try,"
Clara challenged him directly,
"the authorities have copies,
of your fraud files,
delivered two hours ago."
His face turned pale,
realizing his total defeat,
staring at her blankly.
She turned around smoothly,
her coat flowing behind,
leaving him in ruin.
The trap was sprung,
May you like
but he was caught,
in his own cage.
