Chapter 3 - The Heavy Descent of Iron and TruthBefore Julian could respond to my words,

a deep,

reverberating hum vibrated through the floorboards.

It started low,

like the distant rumble of an approaching thunderstorm,

causing the champagne inside the crystal towers to ripple.

Then,

without warning,

a deafening metallic crash echoed through the entire mansion.

The live orchestra abruptly stopped playing,

their bows freezing against the strings in sudden confusion.

The polite chatter of hundreds of guests died instantly,

replaced by a heavy,

pregnant silence.

BANG!

Another explosive impact shook the walls,

causing several historical paintings to rattle against their frames.

Guests looked around frantically,

their eyes wide with sudden panic.

"What is that noise?"

someone screamed from the back of the room.

Suddenly,

massive plates of reinforced steel began sliding down from hidden recesses in the ceiling.

They fell with terrifying speed,

sealing off the grand glass windows that overlooked the manicured gardens.

CRASH!

The heavy sound of metal locking into stone echoed through the ballroom.

People began to scream,

dropping their plates of expensive appetizers onto the pristine floor.

The grand double doors at the main entrance,

crafted from solid oak and iron,

were suddenly covered by a multi-layered security shutter.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Every single window,

every emergency exit,

and every secret service corridor was systematically sealed off from the outside world.

The entire estate had transformed from a glittering palace into a subterranean bunker within a matter of seconds.

The air pressure in the room shifted,

becoming heavy and tight,

making it difficult for the panicked guests to breathe.

"Let us out!"

a wealthy politician yelled,

pounding his fists against the impenetrable steel barrier.

"This is a violation of our rights!"

The security shutters didn't move an inch,

standing as silent sentinels of our new reality.

I stood completely still in the center of the chaos,

watching the smug expression completely drain from Julian’s face.

His tan skin turned a sickly shade of pale,

and his hands began to tremble so violently that his glass slipped through his fingers.

The crystal shattered against the marble,

splashing dark liquid across his polished leather shoes.

He looked at the sealed doors,

then looked back at me,

his chest heaving with a sudden rush of adrenaline.

"W-What did you do?"

he stammered,

his voice losing all of its previous arrogance.

I took one slow,

deliberate step toward him,

the sound of my heels clicking sharply against the floor.

"You made one fatal mistake,

Julian,"

I said,

my voice cutting through the panic of the crowd.

He swallowed hard,

instinctively taking a step backward.

"What mistake?"

A cold,

unforgiving smile spread across my face,

illuminated by the flickering light of the chandeliers.

"You assumed those doors were built to keep dangerous people out,"

I whispered.

The final electronic lock engaged with a loud,

authoritative click.

"No,"

May you like

I continued,

"they were built to make sure men like you never walk out."
