Chapter 8 - THE BLOOD MOON OVER RED HOOK

Inside the panic room, two hours felt like an eternity.
The reinforced bunker was fully equipped with medical supplies, emergency comms monitors, and comfortable seating. Hannah sat on a leather sofa, holding Lucas, watching the live security camera feeds displayed on a wall-mounted screen.
On the screen, she watched as Adrian, Viktor, and the remaining loyal guards systematically eliminated the Moretti mercenaries, clearing the estate grounds with cold, military efficiency.
By 4:00 AM, the local police and federal authorities—who had been secretly coordinated by Uncle Richard Bennett's federal connections—arrived at the gates, securing the perimeter and taking Victoria Sterling and the surviving mercenaries into federal custody.
When the heavy steel door of the panic room finally hissed open, Adrian stood in the doorway.
His clothes were torn, his knuckles bruised, but his eyes were completely clear. For the first time since Hannah had met him, the heavy shadow of grief and death had vanished from his gaze.
He stepped into the room and dropped to his knees in front of Hannah's chair.
He didn't look like a crime lord. He looked like a man who had survived the dark night and found his sanctuary.
"They're gone," Adrian said softly, reaching out to take Lucas gently into his arms. "The Moretti network has been seized by federal task forces. Victoria is facing life in prison for conspiracy and treason. It's over, Hannah. We're safe."
Hannah looked down at him, tears of overwhelming relief flowing freely down her cheeks. She reached out, her fingers softly brushing through his dark hair.

"You fought for us," she whispered.
"I fought for my family," Adrian corrected her gently, looking directly into her eyes with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. "You brought life back into this dead house, Hannah. You saved my son... and you saved me."
