Part 31

"I didn't bring you into my life just to save you from the dark, Emma," Adrian said, his voice rich with an emotion that shook her to her very core. "I brought you into my life because you are the light. You gave my son a mother when he had none, and you gave me a soul when I thought mine was completely dead."

He knelt before her on the stone terrace, his hands enveloping hers. "I don't offer you a life of quiet safety. My world will always be vast, and my name will always carry weight. But I promise you an empire of absolute devotion. I promise that every breath I take will be used to honor you and protect you."

He looked up into her eyes, his gaze steady and filled with an unconditional love that chased away every lingering ghost of her past. "Will you marry me, Emma? Will you build this new empire with me, as my equal, my wife, and the mother of my children?"

Tears of pure, unadulterated happiness welled in Emma's eyes, spilling over her cheeks. The long nights of terror, the rain-slicked escapes, the sound of gunfire in the dark—all of it had led her to this exact moment, to this magnificent terrace, to this extraordinary man who had rewritten the stars just to keep her by his side.

"Yes," she whispered, her voice strong and filled with absolute certainty. "Yes, Adrian. A thousand times, yes."

Adrian smiled, a radiant, beautiful expression that lit up his face, and slid the ring onto her finger. He stood up, pulling her into his arms and lifting her off her feet, spinning her around as she laughed against his neck.

Nearby, little Leo let out a loud, happy screech, clapping his tiny hands together as if celebrating the completion of their family.

Adrian set her down, his lips finding hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their vows under the darkening Mediterranean sky. The stars were beginning to emerge, twinkling like a millions of tiny diamonds over a city, a sea, and a world that now belonged entirely to them.

They had walked out of the crumbling cathedral of their pasts, survived the fire of their enemies, and stepped together into the bright, glorious dawn of a destiny they had carved out with their own hands. They were finally free, finally safe, and completely unstoppable.
