Chapter 8 - THE FORTRESS STANDS

Midnight brought the storm.

Rain lashed against the tall stained-glass windows of the mansion as thunder echoed across the Connecticut hills.

Outside, the perimeter alarms chimed softly on my monitor screen in the security control room. Three black SUVs had breached the outer estate gates, carrying armed men sent by the Moretti syndicate to launch a surprise raid on the Coleman residence.

They expected to find a distracted father and a household in chaos.

Instead, they walked directly into a masterclass in tactical defense.

Nathan hadn't left the estate. He had lured Moretti's men directly into a controlled trap on the lower grounds.

From the security room, I watched on the night-vision monitors as Marcus and Nathan's elite security team systematically cut off the perimeter, disabling the vehicles and apprehending Moretti’s men before they could even reach the front lawn.

In the center of the courtyard, illuminated by the floodlights and sweeping rain, stood Nathan Coleman.

He held no weapons. He simply stood surrounded by thirty loyal men, staring down Moretti’s second-in-command, who was forced to his knees in the wet grass.

"Tell Moretti," Nathan's voice echoed through the external speakers into the security room, cold and absolute as thunder, "that my family is off-limits. If anyone so much as breathes near my children or Emily again, I will dismantle his entire empire in twenty-four hours."

The message was clear. Nathan hadn't grown weak. He had become far more dangerous—because now, he had everything to lose, and the absolute strength to protect it.

Ten minutes later, the estate grounds were cleared, the police were called to collect the trespassers, and the threat was permanently neutralized.
