Chapter 17 - THE AMBUSH IN THE SHADOWS

The rain was pouring down heavily now,
creating a thick curtain of water that limited visibility to a few feet.
Marcus's heavy black van pulled into the dark alleyway,
its headlights turned off to maintain absolute surprise.
Three mercenaries emerged from the vehicle,
wearing dark tactical gear and holding silenced pistols in their hands.
They moved with practiced coordination,
covering the exits of the clinic as they prepared to breach the rear door.
Nathan remained inside the utility truck at the end of the alley,
his heart hammering violently against his ribs.
Marcus led the advance,
his hand reaching out toward the metal handle of the clinic's heavy security door.
But before his fingers could make contact with the cold metal,
the single overhead light bulb in the alley exploded.
Absolute darkness enveloped the narrow space,
instantly throwing the mercenaries into a state of sudden confusion.
A sharp,
gasping sound echoed through the rain as the first mercenary was violently pulled into the darkness.
Henry had appeared behind him like a phantom,
using a non-lethal but devastating pressure point to instantly neutralize him.
The man dropped silently to the wet pavement,
his weapon stripped from his hand before he could even register the attack.
"Target active!
Open fire!"
Marcus screamed,
panicking as he fired his weapon blindly into the dark curtain of rain.
The muzzle flashes illuminated the alleyway in brief,
staccato bursts of bright white light,
revealing nothing but empty shadows.
Henry moved with incredible speed and absolute fluid grace,
utilizing the environment to systematically dismantle his opponents.
He reappeared beside the second mercenary,
delivering a swift,
brutal strike to his knee that shattered the joint instantly.
As the man collapsed,
Henry used his momentum to drive him into the brick wall,
knocking him completely unconscious.
Marcus was now completely alone in the dark alley,
his weapon shaking violently as he looked around in terror.
He realized with a sudden,
horrific clarity that they were not dealing with a normal civilian or a retired worker.
They had stepped into the hunting ground of a legendary operative,
and they never stood a single chance of survival.
"Drop the weapon,
Marcus,"
Henry's voice commanded from the shadows,
sounding completely calm and utterly terrifying.
Marcus dropped his pistol onto the wet ground,
raising his hands slowly as Henry stepped into the dim light.
"Please,
don't kill me,"
Marcus begged,
his professional confidence completely vanished under the intensity of Henry's gaze.
"Nathan paid us to do this,
we didn't know who you really were,
I swear we didn't know."
"Tie your men up and leave this city,"
Henry said coldly,
his eyes locked on the utility truck at the end of the alley.
"If I ever see your face in this state again,
your legal problems will be the least of your concerns."
May you like
Marcus nodded frantically,
immediately moving to comply with the order as Henry walked toward the utility truck.
