Chapter 7 - The Shareholders' Showdown

The Meridian building towered over the city center,
its glass facade reflecting the morning sunlight beautifully.
I wore a sharp,
tailored black suit that Ethan had ordered for me,
a stark contrast to my old uniform.
My hair was styled perfectly,
and my posture was elegant and completely unyielding.
Ethan walked beside me,
his presence commanding the attention of everyone in the lobby.
We bypassed the regular security desk,
where the guard who used to ignore me stood with his mouth wide open.
"Good morning,
Frank,"
I said smoothly as I walked past his desk without stopping.
"The floors look a bit dusty today,
make sure someone cleans them properly."
We took the private executive elevator straight to the top floor penthouse suite.
The doors opened to reveal a massive boardroom filled with wealthy investors in expensive suits.
At the head of the table sat Eleanor Vance,
looking smug and triumphant with her gavel ready.
Julian stood right behind her,
whispering into her ear with a confident smile on his face.
"Welcome,
everyone,
to the annual meeting,"
Eleanor announced,
her voice echoing through the speakers.
"We will begin the vote for the permanent chairperson position immediately."
"Before you cast your votes,
I have an objection,"
Ethan's voice boomed,
disturbing the quiet room.
He pushed open the heavy oak doors,
allowing me to step into the room ahead of him.
The entire boardroom went completely silent,
every eye turning toward us in utter shock.
Eleanor froze,
her gavel hovering in the air as her face turned pale gray.
"Vivian?"
Julian gasped,
his coffee cup slipping from his hand and smashing on the floor.
"What are you doing here?"
he shouted,
his voice cracking with sudden panic.
"You have no right to be in this room,
security remove her!"
"Don't touch her,"
Ethan commanded,
his voice full of absolute authority that stopped the guards in their tracks.
"This is Vivian Wright,
the rightful heiress to forty percent of this entire corporation."
A collective gasp rippled through the room as the investors began to whisper frantically.
"That is a lie!"
Eleanor shrieked,
slamming her gavel down with violent force.
"She is a fraud,
a common criminal trying to steal our family business!"
I walked calmly to the center of the room,
placing a flash drive onto the central table.
"This drive contains the official DNA records verified by the federal government,"
I said clearly.
"It also contains five years of forensic audit files proving massive corporate embezzlement."
"Embezzlement orchestrated by Eleanor and Julian Vance through Apex Solutions."
The investors looked at the screen as Ethan projected the financial files for all to see.
The charts showed a clear,
undeniable trail of stolen funds moving into offshore accounts.
"You are finished,
Eleanor,"
I said,
looking her dead in the eye with cold satisfaction.
"As the majority shareholder of the Wright estate,
I officially vote to remove you from the board."
"And I call for the immediate arrest of Julian Vance for corporate fraud and theft."
Right on cue,
the boardroom doors opened again,
and four federal agents walked inside.
They carried handcuffs,
their badges gleaming in the bright lights of the office.
Julian looked around frantically,
his face covered in sweat as he realized there was no escape.
"Mother,
do something!"
he cried out as an agent grabbed his arm.
But Eleanor didn't move,
she just stared at me with pure,
undiluted hatred in her eyes.

The trap had closed completely,
and they were finally paying for their sins.
