Chapter 10 - THE UNSTOPPABLE LIGHT

As the stars began to appear over the mountain valley, painting the night sky in deep shades of indigo, gold, and violet, the evening air grew cool and sweet.

The children were fast asleep upstairs in their cozy bedrooms, safe and protected beneath a roof built on unwavering love and absolute security.

Maya and I sat together on the porch swing, wrapped in a large wool blanket, watching the moon reflect off the quiet waters of the lake.

She rested her hand on mine, her wedding ring catching the faint starlight.

"Do you ever think about them, David?" she asked softly, her voice free of any fear or bitterness.

I looked out at the peaceful lake, feeling an absolute, unbreakable sense of calm deep within my soul.

"No," I answered gently, turning to look into the eyes of the woman who was my whole world. "I don't think about the darkness when I'm standing in the light."

"We survived it," she whispered, leaning in to kiss my lips softly.

"We didn't just survive it, my love," I murmured, holding her tight against my heart as the cool night breeze rustled through the trees. "We won."

The night was quiet. The home was warm.

And our peace was forever sealed.
