CHAPTER 32
We left the deactivated creature behind,
moving deeper into the labyrinth of the underground facility,
our caution multiplied by the recent encounter.
The air grew warmer as we descended,
and we could hear the faint hum of generators,
confirming that someone was operating the base.
The walls were no longer cracked and dirty,

instead,
they looked clean and maintained,
a disturbing contrast to the ruined exterior above.
We reached a set of heavy blast doors,
which required a biometric scan to open,
a security feature I thought would block us completely.
However,
as I approached the panel,
the digital screen flickered to life,
and a message appeared saying access granted.
The doors hissed open slowly,
sliding into the walls,
revealing a massive laboratory that looked fully functional.
Rows of glass cylinders filled the room,
each containing a green glowing liquid,
and shadowy figures floating inside them.
I walked up to one of the cylinders,
pressing my hand against the cold glass,
staring at the unfinished clone inside.
They were trying to recreate the army of monsters,
using my father's old research notes,
to unleash chaos upon the unsuspecting world.
In the center of the room stood a large desk,
with a single laptop open and active,
its screen casting a blue glow over the area.
I approached the computer,
my fingers flying across the keyboard,
attempting to download the data and find the source.
A video file automatically began to play,
and a face appeared on the screen,
sending a shockwave of terror through my entire body.

It was Olivia’s sister,
Valerie,
whom everyone believed had died during the initial purge.
She looked older,
her face marred by a long scar across her cheek,
but her eyes held the same malicious spark as before.
She smiled at the camera,
as if she knew exactly when I would be watching,
and began to speak in a calm,
taunting voice.
"Hello,
my dear friend,"
she said,
her voice dripping with false affection.
"Did you really think you could escape the legacy,
that you could just build a happy life and forget us?
Your father’s work belongs to the world,
and I am going to finish what he started.
The letter was just a invitation,
to bring you back to the place where you belong.
By the time you watch this,
the trap will already be sprung,
and your beautiful daughter will be in my hands."
My heart stopped,
and the room seemed to spin around me,
as her words echoed in my mind like a death knell.
Liam grabbed my shoulders,
trying to keep me steady,
his own face pale with sudden panic.
Valerie had anticipated our moves,
using the island as a diversion to draw us away,
while she targeted the safehouse where Clara was hidden.

I closed the laptop violently,
refusing to listen to another second of her twisted games.

We had to get back to the mainland immediately,
to save our daughter from the monster that sought to steal her.
