Chapter 9 - CAGE DOORS SLAM

“Adrian Cole! Julian Vance!” Detective Ramirez announced, stepping up to the podium. “You are both under arrest for federal wire fraud, attempted grand larceny, forgery, and financial conspiracy.”
Two officers grabbed Julian’s arms, pulling him out of his chair and snapping handcuffs around his wrists behind his back.
“This was all Adrian!” Julian shrieked in panic, pointing his cuffed hands at my husband! “He forged the signatures! He brought me the paperwork! I didn't forge anything!”
“You shut your mouth, Julian!” Adrian screamed, his face contorting in pathetic, desperate rage!
An officer grabbed Adrian’s wrists, forcing them behind his back with a loud CLICK-CLACK of steel cuffs.
Adrian looked at me as he was forced toward the exit, his eyes wild with tears of regret and panic.
“Victoria! Please!” he sobbed. “I made a mistake! I love you! Don't do this to me! We can fix this!”

I stood at the head of the boardroom, looking at him with absolute calm.
“You said I wouldn't know what happened until it was too late, Adrian,” I whispered as the officers led him away. “You were right. It’s too late.”
