Chapter 20 - The Beginning Of A Real Future Together

Lily ran back down the garden path,
tugging urgently on the hem of Caleb’s trousers.
"Mr. Caleb!
Mr. Caleb!
The fireflies are out by the fountain!
Come see!"
Caleb smiled down at the little girl,
lifting her effortlessly into his arms so she could see the glowing insects dancing above the water.
"Lead the way,
Captain Lily,"
Caleb declared with mock solemnity,
making the little girl giggle with pure delight.
Grace watched them from beneath the rose arbor,
her heart overflowing with a happiness she had spent years believing was meant only for other people.
The painful past,
the cold elite society,
the cruel rejection by Sloane Mercer—all of it felt like a distant, meaningless shadow compared to the bright, beautiful reality unfolding before her.
Caleb turned back toward Grace,
holding Lily with one arm while extending his free hand toward her.
Grace didn't hesitate.
She walked forward,
placed her hand in his warm, strong grip,
and let him pull her close beside them.
As they stood together beneath the evening stars,
watching the fireflies dance across the fountain,
Grace knew that the wrinkled gold package and the crooked red bow had not just delivered a simple birthday journal.
They had delivered a broken man and a struggling mother into each other's arms,
proving that true love isn't measured by diamonds and designer labels,
May you like
but by the courage to cherish what truly matters.
And this was only Chapter One of the rest of their lives.
