Chapter 16 - THE CHASE THROUGH THE CHILL
I could hear his footsteps behind,
they were faster than mine tonight,
gaining ground with every second,
Emily stop running from me,
he shouted through the cold wind,
his voice was full of malice,
you cannot hide forever from family,
I turned into a narrow alleyway,
hoping to lose him in corners,
the snow was deep and thick here,
slowing my desperate escape down,
I saw a metal fire escape door,
belonging to a large brick building,
I grabbed the handle and pulled hard,
praying that it was unlocked for me,
the door opened with a loud creak,
and I threw myself inside the dark,
slamming the heavy door behind me,
pushing the metal lock into place,
just as his heavy body hit outside,
the door rattled violently with force,
open the door you stupid girl,
he screamed from the snowy alley,
he was banging his fists on steel,
creating a terrible booming sound,
I backed away into the shadows,
the building was an old warehouse,
filled with dusty crates and boxes,
the air was freezing and dark,
I took out my phone quickly,
dialing the emergency number fast,
my fingers were numb from cold,
help me please my brother is here,
I told the dispatcher in a panic,
he is trying to break inside,
I gave her the street name quickly,
she told me to stay hidden deep,
the police were on their way now,
but the banging stopped suddenly,
replaced by a silence more terrifying,
as I heard the sound of glass,

he was coming inside the building.
