Chapter 9 - THE MIDNIGHT RAID ON THE OFFSHORE ACCOUNTS

While the federal accountants worked inside the Greenwich estate,
cyber intelligence operatives from my own military unit were executing a simultaneous digital strike half a world away.
Seated in a secure mobile command vehicle parked three blocks down from the Sterling mansion,
my lead technical specialist,
Master Sergeant Miller,
typed furiously across a bank of glowing monitors.
"Direct connection established with the Cayman Islands financial node,
Colonel,"
Miller reported,
his eyes locked onto the scrolling green code.
"Bypassing the primary firewall now."
"Good,"
I said,
leaning over his shoulder in the dim,
blue-lit interior of the communications van.
"Execute the asset repatriation protocol."
"Executing...
now,"
Miller murmured,
hitting the enter key with a satisfying click.
Across the monitors,
millions of dollars in illegally diverted funds began draining away from the offshore accounts controlled by Richard and Julian,
flowing back into the secure,
frozen probate trust established by my late father.
"Transfer complete,
Colonel,"
Miller announced with a triumphant grin.
"All accounts are completely cleaned out."
"Not a single penny left for bail or high-priced defense attorneys."
"Excellent work,
Sergeant,"
I commended,
straightening my posture as I looked out the tinted window toward the imposing iron gates of the family estate.
"Let's pack up the mobile unit and head back inside."
"The final phase of the operation is about to begin."
As we walked back up the long cobblestone driveway,
we passed three empty black SUVs that had been towed away by federal marshals earlier that morning.
The illusion of untouchable wealth that my mother had cultivated for decades had finally been shattered beyond repair.
When we stepped through the front doors,
we found Victoria sitting alone in the grand foyer,
staring blankly at the empty coat racks where Richard's expensive designer coats used to hang.
She looked older,
smaller,
stripped of the fierce arrogance that had defined her entire existence.
"You're destroying everything your father built,"
she whispered hoarsely,
not even bothering to look up as my boots clicked across the marble floor.
"No,
Mother,"
I corrected her gently,
May you like
stopping just a few feet away.
"I am finally restoring everything he worked his entire life to protect."
