Chapter 12 - The Verdict of the True Alpha

Kane looked up through his tangled hair,

his body trembling violently as he fought to speak through the crushing weight.

"Please,"

he choked out,

his Alpha pride completely shattered into dust.

"We did not know...

we did not know her true lineage."

"The Crimson pack...

we will offer any compensation...

any territory you desire."

"Just spare our lives."

Scarlett was crying now,

real tears of absolute,

paralyzing terror streaming down her pale face.

She could feel the cold breath of the massive phantom wolf hovering right above her neck.

She realized now how insignificant she truly was,

how her dominant southern bloodline was nothing but a joke to the ancient powers.

The mother stood tall beside Ivy,

her long black coat swaying softly in the cold draft from the broken windows.

She looked down at them with an expression of complete,

unmoved finality.

"The only people not walking out of this place alive today,"

the mother announced,

her voice ringing out with the absolute authority of a supreme judge.

"Are the two of you."

With a simple,

casual wave of her hand,

her elite guards stepped forward from the shadows,

their weapons ready.

Kane let out a final,

desperate howl of despair,

but it was instantly cut short as the dark figures closed in around them.

The mother turned her back on the scene,

gently placing her arm around Ivy's shoulders to guide her away.

"Come,

Ivy,"

the mother said softly,

her voice warm and completely unbothered by the violence occurring behind them.

"Let us go home to the ancient lands,

where you belong."

They walked out of the ruined boutique together,

stepping through the heavy glass doors into the cool night air.

The long line of black SUVs stood waiting,

their engines idling with a deep,

reassuring rumble.

The guards stood at absolute attention as the sovereign and her daughter approached the central vehicle.

Ivy looked back one last time at the flashing lights of the city,

feeling the heavy weight finally lifting from her chest.

The betrayal was painful,

but it had revealed the true power of the blood running through her own veins.

She stepped into the warm,

luxurious interior of the car,

her mother sitting down gracefully beside her.

As the heavy,

armored door closed shut,

the entire midnight convoy moved out in perfect unison.

They swept through the darkened streets of the city like a quiet,

May you like

unstoppable storm,

leaving the remnants of the Crimson pack buried in the dust behind them.
