Chapter 7 - The Gathering Storm

Minutes ticked by like hours,

the absolute silence inside the boutique growing heavier with each passing second.

The guards remained frozen in their positions,

their large bodies forming an impassable wall around Ivy.

Ivy could feel the cool blood drying on her skin,

the deep cut on her cheek throbbing in rhythm with her rapid heartbeat.

She kept her mind focused,

listening intently to the sounds of the city outside the thick glass doors.

Suddenly,

a faint,

low rumble vibrated through the floorboards of the boutique,

so subtle that only a wolf could perceive it.

It didn't sound like ordinary city traffic,

it felt like the deep,

coordinated pulse of heavy machinery.

Scarlett frowned,

lifting her head from the ice pack,

her sharp ears twitching as she caught the distant sound.

"What is that noise?"

she muttered,

looking toward the large display windows that faced the main avenue.

The rumble grew rapidly louder,

transforming into the unmistakable roar of multiple high-powered engines.

It was a synchronized,

deafening sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the surrounding buildings.

Kane stood up quickly,

his Alpha instincts flaring as he walked toward the front of the boutique.

Through the glass,

he could see the grand avenue completely clearing out,

civilian cars scrambling to get out of the way.

A massive line of identical,

armored black SUVs was turning onto the street,

moving with a terrifying,

military-like precision.

There were dozens of them,

a whole line stretching down the entire block,

their headlights piercing through the dark gloom.

The sheer volume of the engines was loud enough to violently rattle the massive glass windows of Lumi Bridal.

And beneath the roar of the mechanical engines,

there was another sound,

a deep,

reverberating growl that echoed through the air.

It was a sound that made every single wolf inside the boutique instantly freeze,

their inner wolves whimpering in primal terror.

It was the scent of ancient power,

a bloodline so old and dominant that it made Kane's Alpha energy feel like a flickering candle.

"My God,"

one of the senior guards whispered,

his face turning completely pale as he backed away from the window.

"What kind of pack is that?"

"That's not a pack,"

another guard choked out,

his hands beginning to tremble as he lowered his weapon.

"That's an entire army."

The massive convoy finally came to a sudden,

synchronized halt directly in front of the bridal boutique,

completely blocking the entire street.

The headlights of the lead vehicles shone directly through the glass doors,

illuminating the interior with a blinding,

white light.

Scarlett stood up slowly,

her false confidence finally beginning to fracture as she stared at the terrifying display outside.

"Kane,

what is going on?"

she asked,

her voice trembling slightly as she clutched his arm.

"Who are these people?"

Kane didn't answer her,

his eyes wide with a deep, instinctual horror as he realized the catastrophic mistake they had made.

He looked back at Ivy,

who was now smiling through the blood on her face,

her blue eyes shining with a fierce, triumphant light.

"My mom is here,"

May you like

Ivy whispered softly,

her voice cutting through the heavy silence of the room like a sharp blade.
