Chapter 21 - A New Dawn
The morning sun crested over the Dallas skyline,
casting brilliant golden rays across the polished glass facade of Meridian Automation Systems.
I stood on the balcony of my executive office,
holding a steaming cup of dark roast coffee and watching the city come alive with morning traffic.
My phone rested silently on the desk inside,
free of frantic texts,
whispered lies,
or threatening ultimatums.
Everything was exactly where it belonged.
The past was buried beneath layers of justice,
truth,
and unyielding strength.
The present was a thriving,
transparent,
unbreakable empire.
And the future stretched out before me like an endless,
unwritten horizon waiting to be conquered.
I took a slow sip of my coffee,
feeling the warm caffeine spread through my veins as a serene,
powerful smile touched my lips.
The cake with its golden number nine was long gone.
The gray sheath dress under the credenza was nothing more than a distant,
faded memory.
