Chapter 1 - THE SILENCE OF THE CATHEDRAL

The atmosphere in the room,

It was suffocating.

Every guest turned their head,

Watching the unfolding disaster,

Alexander,

The groom,

Clenched his jaw so tightly that the muscles in his neck bulged,

His eyes darted from the digital screen to Elena,

She was trembling now,

Not with the fake fear she had displayed moments ago,

But with the cold, hard realization of defeat,

"Is this true?"

Alexander whispered,

His voice was devoid of emotion,

A terrifying calm before a storm,

Elena shook her head frantically,

"It’s a trick,"

She gasped,

Her hands clutched at the expensive lace of her wedding gown,

"She edited the video,"

She pointed a shaking finger at the little girl,

Mia,

Mia did not flinch,

She merely adjusted her grip on her phone,

Her small face was set in a mask of grim determination,

"I didn't edit anything,"

Mia said,

Her voice clear and piercing through the hushed silence of the hall,

"I started recording the moment you walked into the dressing room,"

The guests gasped,

Some covered their mouths in shock,

The bride,

Elena,

Had been the envy of the city until this very second,

Now,

She was a spectacle of shame,

Sarah,

The maid,

Remained in the corner,

She was still crying,

But these were tears of vindication,

She felt the weight of the accusation lifting,

Slowly,

Painfully,

Alexander stepped closer to his bride,

"You planted it,"

He stated,

It wasn't a question anymore,

It was a fact,

The phone in his hand showed the loop,

Over and over again,

Elena’s hand slipping the necklace into Sarah’s apron,

The sheer audacity of the crime was staggering,

"I,"

Elena tried to stammer,

"I was just—"

"You were just what?"

Alexander cut her off,

"Just ruining a woman's life for a game?"

He turned to the guests,

The room was filled with the elite,

The powerful,

The people who mattered,

And they were all watching this nightmare unfold,

The wedding march was still echoing in the background,

A mocking reminder of the happiness that had evaporated,

Alexander looked at the ring on his finger,

He pulled it off,

The diamond caught the light,

Sparkling with a brilliance that felt like a lie,

He held it out,

But not to Elena,

He dropped it on the floor,

It clicked against the marble,

The sound was final,

"The wedding is off,"

He declared,

The words hit Elena like a physical blow,

She staggered back,

Her heels catching on the train of her dress,

"Alexander, please,"

She pleaded,

"We have guests,

The press is outside,

Think about our reputation!"

Alexander laughed,

It was a dry, hollow sound,

"Reputation?"

He echoed,

"You destroyed everything that mattered the moment you decided to frame an innocent soul,"

He turned his back on her,

He walked toward Sarah,

The maid looked up,

Fear still lingering in her eyes,

Alexander softened his expression,

"I am so sorry,"

He said,

The crowd stood paralyzed,

Witnessing a drama far more intense than any play,

The church felt like a cage,

And Elena,

The bride,

Was the prisoner of her own deception,

She looked around for an ally,

But found only cold, judgmental stares,

The betrayal was absolute,

May you like

And the consequences,

Were only just beginning.
