Chapter 8 - THE CONFRONTATION

Elena arrived at the lawyer's office,
She looked composed,
But her eyes were wild,
She had a plan,
She had the documents,
She had the leverage,
She walked into the conference room,
Her lawyer was waiting,
He looked nervous,
"Elena, we have a problem,"
He said,
"The police are looking into the incidents,"
"Let them look,"
Elena said,
She sat down,
"I have proof,"
She laid the folder on the table,
"Proof of what?"
"Proof that Alexander is not the saint everyone thinks he is,"
She opened the folder,
She showed him the papers,
"These are records of his business dealings,
Unethical,
Maybe illegal,"
The lawyer looked at them,
He shook his head,
"Elena, this is nothing,
These are standard business practices,
They don't equate to theft or framing people,"
"It's enough to cause a scandal,"
Elena argued,
"It's enough to ruin him,"
"And what about you?"
The lawyer asked,
"You are already ruined,
This will just make you look desperate,"
Elena stood up,
She slammed her hand on the table,
"I am not desperate!
I am fighting back!"
"Fighting back against what?"
"Against everyone who judged me!
Against Alexander,
Against that brat,
Against the whole world!"
The lawyer looked at her,
He saw the madness in her eyes,
He realized he couldn't help her,
"I’m done, Elena,"
He said,
He stood up,
"I can't represent you anymore,
I can't be part of this,"
"You're firing me?"
"I'm withdrawing,"
He walked out of the room,
Elena stood alone,
She looked at the folder,
She realized she had nothing,
She had only her rage,
And her rage was not enough,
She looked at her reflection in the glass window,
She saw a woman who had lost everything,
And who had no one to blame but herself,
She picked up the folder,
She ripped it into pieces,
She threw them on the floor,
She walked out of the office,
The city was loud,
Chaotic,
It didn't care about her,
It didn't care about her drama,
She was alone,
And she was finally seeing the truth,
May you like
She had destroyed her own life,
And there was no one left to fix it.
