Chapter 16 - THE EVIDENCE DISPLAYED

Clara pressed a key on the laptop,

and the giant projector screen behind Arthur came alive with text and video.

The ledger entries appeared first,

showing the illegal payments and the matching corporate bank transfers.

"These are the records of my uncle's embezzlement,"

Victoria explained clearly to the stunned audience.

"He used company funds to hire a contract killer to poison my drink two nights ago."

Next,

the video clip of Julian's sister,

Lily,

began to play for the entire room to see.

"Arthur Vance kidnapped me,"

Lily's recorded voice whimpered from the large speakers.

"He forced my brother to try and kill Victoria,

and then he burned the warehouse to kill them both."

The board members erupted into murmurs of outrage,

staring at Arthur with utter disgust and condemnation.

"This is a fabrication!"

Arthur screamed,

his voice cracking under the pressure of his exposure.

"It's a digital lie made by an ungrateful girl and her lower-class maid!"

"It's over,

Arthur,"

a new voice called out from the back of the boardroom.

District Attorney Richard Sterling entered,

accompanied by four armed police officers.

"Arthur Vance,

you are under arrest for attempted murder,

kidnapping,

and corporate fraud,"

Sterling stated firmly.

The police officers moved forward,

their handcuffs clicking loudly in the quiet space of the room.

Arthur looked around wildly,

realizing he was cornered with absolutely no escape route left.

His corporate empire had crumbled in a matter of seconds before his very eyes.

His face twisted into a mask of pure,

unadulterated hatred as he looked at Victoria.
