Chapter 8 - THE VANISHING WITNESS

When Victoria returned to the estate,
she received a frantic call from Chief Marcus.
Julian was dead.
He had been found hanging in his jail cell just an hour after his phone call to Victoria.
The authorities were ruling it a suicide,
but Victoria knew better.
Arthur had silenced his loose end before Julian could testify in court.
"This is terrible,"
Clara whispered,
covering her mouth as tears filled her eyes.
"He killed him to protect himself."
"And now,
Julian's sister is in grave danger,"
Victoria realized,
her heart breaking for the innocent girl.
They needed to find the sister before Arthur could eliminate her as well.
Victoria opened the burner phone,
hoping to find a location or a clue.
Among the deleted messages,
she discovered an address for an abandoned warehouse by the docks.
"This must be where he is keeping her,"
Victoria deduced,
showing the screen to Clara.
"We have to go there tonight,"
Clara said,
her bravery surprising Victoria once again.
"It's too dangerous for you,
Clara,"
Victoria protested,
shaking her head.
"I cannot risk your life again."
"We started this together,
Miss Victoria,"
Clara insisted,
looking straight into her eyes.
"I am not leaving your side until this evil is eradicated."
Victoria felt a deep sense of gratitude for this brave young woman.
They prepared for the mission,
knowing they were walking straight into the lion's den.
Marcus assembled a small,
trusted security team to accompany them to the harbor.
The night was dark,
and the fog rolling off the ocean provided the perfect cover for their arrival.

The warehouse stood like a giant shadow against the murky sky,
shrouded in mystery.
