Chapter 7 - THE CONFRONTATION AT THE OFFICE

The next morning,
Victoria arrived at the Vance Corporate Headquarters,
accompanied by Clara and Marcus.
She marched through the glass doors,
her presence commanding respect from the employees.
She walked straight into the executive boardroom,
where Arthur was sitting at the head of the table.
He looked up,
a fake smile plastered across his cruel face.
"Victoria,
my dear,"
Arthur purred,
standing up to greet her.
"Shouldn't you be resting after last night's terrible ordeal?"
"Cut the act,
Arthur,"
Victoria said,
throwing the ledger onto the table before him.
The heavy book slid across the polished wood,
stopping right in front of his hands.
Arthur's smile vanished instantly,
his eyes widening as he recognized his own handwriting.
"Where did you get this?"
he demanded,
his voice dropping into a low,
threatening register.
"Julian told me everything,"
Victoria declared,
leaning over the table to face him directly.
"I know about his sister,
and I know about the poison."
Arthur laughed,
a cold,
humorless sound that chilled the air in the room.
"Julian is a criminal,
Victoria,"
Arthur sneered,
tossing the ledger aside.
"Who will believe the word of a desperate man in jail?"
"The police will believe the bank records that match these entries,"
Clara spoke up,
stepping forward fearlessly.
Arthur glared at the maid,
his eyes burning with sheer hatred.
"You insignificant little servant,"
Arthur hissed,
pointing an angry finger at Clara.
"You should have stayed in the kitchen where you belong."
"She saved my life,"
Victoria interjected,
shielding Clara from his wrath.
"And together,
we are going to destroy you,
Uncle."
Arthur stood up,
buttoning his suit jacket with calm malice.
"We shall see about that,
my dear niece,"
he whispered,
before walking out of the room.
