Chapter 2 - The Return of the Heiress

The black Maybach pulled up to the curb, its tires splashing rainwater onto the sidewalk.
A tall man in a tailored black suit stepped out, holding a large umbrella.
He rushed over to Chloe, his face pale with horror as he saw her condition.
"Miss Vance! Oh heavens, look at you!" he cried, wrapping a warm blanket around her.
"I'm fine, Arthur," Chloe said, her voice completely emotionless.
"Take me to the penthouse. And call the family doctor immediately."
Arthur nodded fiercely, opening the car door for the true heiress of the Vance conglomerate.
As the car sped away from Long Island, Chloe stared out the window.
The heat from her burned shoulder was fading into a numb ache.
The bleeding in her hand had stopped, but the scar would remain forever.
She looked at her reflection in the dark glass of the window.
The fragile, submissive Chloe was completely gone.
In her place stood Anastacia Vance, the sole heir to a global empire worth billions.
Three years ago, she had hidden her identity to find true love.
She had met Julian when he was just a struggling businessman.
She had used her secret influence to help him secure his first major contracts.
And this was how he repaid her.
He had thrown her away like trash the moment his family became powerful.
The car arrived at the ultra-luxurious Vance penthouse in Manhattan.
A team of private medical staff was already waiting for her.
They treated her burns and stitched her deeply cut hand with the utmost care.
The lead doctor sighed, looking at her with deep sympathy.
"The physical wounds will heal, Miss Vance, but you must rest."
"I have no time for rest, Doctor," Chloe said, standing up from the medical chair.
She walked into the massive walk-in closet, choosing a sharp, tailored power suit.
She put on a pair of black leather gloves to hide her bandaged hand.
Her father, Arthur Vance Sr., walked into the room, his eyes fierce with rage.
"They will pay for this, Anastacia. Every single one of them."
"No, Father, do not destroy them yet," Chloe said, a cruel smile forming on her lips.
"I want to watch them climb a little higher before I pull the rug out from under them."
"What is your plan, my child?" her father asked, proud of her sudden strength.
"The Sterlings are desperate to sign the partnership with our company next week," she explained.
"They think they are about to become royalty. Let them believe it."
"I will personally oversee that contract meeting," Chloe declared, her eyes flashing.

"Julian wants a divorce. I will give it to him, but on my terms."
"He will regret the day he ever let his mother touch me."
