Chapter 7 - The Revelation

"That is Miss Vance to you, Mr. Sterling," the lead attorney snapped.
Chloe sat down in the center leather chair, crossing her legs elegantly.
She looked at Julian and Victoria as if they were insects.
"What... what is the meaning of this joke?" Victoria shrieked, standing up.
"This girl is a gutter rat! She was my daughter-in-law!"
"Silence!" the executive shouted, slamming his hand on the table.
"You are speaking to Anastacia Vance, the sole owner of this conglomerate."
Julian's mind fractured as the pieces finally came together.
The secret contacts, the sudden rise of his business, the warning from the lawyer.
It wasn't luck. It was Chloe.
She had been the source of all his wealth from the very beginning.
And he had thrown her away, burned her, and humiliated her.
"Chloe... Anastacia... why didn't you tell me?" Julian whispered, his hands trembling.
"Because I wanted to see if you loved me for me," Chloe said, her voice smooth as silk.
"And you proved that you are nothing but a greedy, abusive coward."
She pointed to the bottle of wine on the table.
"Does that smell familiar, Victoria? It's the same wine you poured on me."
Victoria sank back into her chair, her face pale as a ghost.
She realized, with absolute terror, the magnitude of her mistake.
They hadn't just offended a poor girl.
They had declared war on the most powerful family in the country.
"Now, let's talk about the contract," Chloe said, leaning forward.
She picked up the document and slowly tore it in half.

The sound of the paper ripping sounded like a gunshot in the silent room.
"The deal is off. And that's just the beginning."
