Chapter 6 - The Trap Closes

The morning of the Vance contract meeting arrived.
Julian and Victoria walked into the Vance headquarters, their heads held high.
They were escorted to the top floor, where the air felt expensive.
The conference room was massive, overlooking the entire Manhattan skyline.
On the table sat a bottle of vintage Cabernet, just as Chloe had ordered.
Victoria noticed it and smiled, thinking it was a welcoming gesture.
"They know our tastes," she whispered to Julian proudly.
The door opened, and a group of executives walked in, followed by lawyers.
But the CEO's chair remained empty for a few minutes.
"Where is Mr. Vance?" Julian asked politely.
"Mr. Vance has retired," the lead executive replied coldly.
"The new CEO, his daughter, handles all major contracts now."
Julian and Victoria exchanged excited glances.
A young woman would be even easier to manipulate, they thought.
They waited anxiously for the new boss to make her grand entrance.
The heavy oak doors clicked open once more.
The sound of sharp high heels clicked against the marble floor.
Julian turned around, a polite, charming smile ready on his face.
But the smile froze instantly.
The color completely drained from Victoria's face.
Walking into the room, dressed in a flawless white power suit, was Chloe.
Her hair was perfectly styled, and her eyes were like twin daggers.
She walked with the grace and authority of a queen.
She didn't look like an orphan. She looked like a goddess.

Julian's breath caught in his throat, his mind refusing to accept reality.
"C-Chloe?" he stammered, his voice shaking.
