Part 74

The changing of the seasons brought a beautiful, predictable rhythm to our lives, a consistency that we deeply cherished.

Every autumn, the family gathered at the main estate for the annual harvest festival, a tradition that grew more meaningful each year.

We set up long wooden tables in the courtyard, covering them with an abundance of fresh food, sweet cider, and homemade pies.

The local townsfolk joined us, sharing stories, laughter, and music that echoed through the hills until late into the night.

Alexander always stood at the center of the gathering, a respected figure whose presence brought a sense of security to everyone.

During one of these festivals, as the music played and people danced, I walked out to the edge of the courtyard to observe.

I saw Sofia laughing as she danced with Ethan, her face glowing with a mature, settled beauty that filled me with pride.

I saw Maya showing her younger brother how to weave a crown of autumn leaves, her patience with him incredibly sweet to watch.

And then I saw Alexander, walking toward me through the crowd, his eyes fixed entirely on me as if I were the only person there.

He reached out, taking my hand and pulling me gently into his arms, guiding me into a slow, elegant dance under the starlight.

"You look as beautiful tonight as the day I first met you," Alexander whispered, his voice low and intimate against my ear.

I laughed softly, leaning my head against his chest, listening to the steady, comforting rhythm of his heart as we moved together.

"We’ve come a long way from the shadows, Alexander," I murmured, looking up into his clear eyes, filled with endless devotion.

"The shadows are completely gone, my love," he replied firmly, stopping our dance to hold me tightly against his strong body.

"There is nothing left but the light we created, and it will continue to shine brightly for all the days of our lives."
